Southeast Asia continues to emerge as a global data center hotspot, driven by rapid digitalization, cloud adoption, and AI demand. By 2026–2027, the region’s colocation market is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 12%, Thailand, in particular, stands at an exciting crossroads. With strong government backing under “Thailand 4.0,” attractive BOI incentives, and growing connectivity to regional subsea cable networks, the country is emerging as a natural gateway for the ASEAN digital economy.
On the technology front, rapid shifts are underway—green data centers powered by renewable energy, liquid cooling for AI workloads, edge computing at scale, and AI-driven operations. These are no longer distant trends, but forces actively reshaping investment decisions and infrastructure roadmaps.
Nevertheless, significant challenges persist. Thailand and the broader region continue to grapple with power grid stability concerns, gaps in renewable energy availability, water scarcity for cooling purposes, and a shortage of skilled technical talent. Addressing these obstacles will be as critical as seizing the opportunities they accompany.
“DataCon SEA 2027” will be held in Bangkok Thailand on February 25th-26th, 2027. During the event, leaders from Data Center, IT, Infrastructure, Cloud Computing, Operation, Technical department of large enterprises, colocation companies, design and construction companies will gather to discuss the development status and future trends of data center in Southeast Asia, exchange infrastructure, energy saving, AI and other advanced technologies, so as to find the best business partners in the market.
